On November 23, an excursion for schoolchildren took place at the Institute of Spectroscopy of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The excursion was attended by students of the Orthodox gymnasium from the 8th grade and students of the 6th grade of the center for additional education “Baitik”.
The head of the Department of Condensed Matter Spectroscopy Andrey Vitalievich Naumov told the students in detail about the activities of the Institute, about such fields of science as optics and spectroscopy, and also conducted a direct demonstration of the interaction of light with matter.

Arzhanov Artyom, an engineer, conducted a tour of the laboratory of electronic spectra of molecules, in particular, told about atomic force and optical microscopes and demonstrated them in action.

The children were very active, interested and asked a lot of questions to the teachers, which greatly pleased the staff of the Institute.

One of the guides, Kirill Nikolaevich Boldyrev, showed the children a number of interesting experiments, including how liquid nitrogen explodes in a closed plastic bottle.
