On September 3, 2024, a solemn opening of the exhibition “No Barriers to Human Thought: MPGU and Academic Science” took place in the main building of MPGU, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Andrey Naumov, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Shpolskiy Department of Theoretical Physics at MPGU, and Head of the Troitsk branch of the P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, participated in the opening. He welcomed the participants, noting that “people become academicians and Nobel laureates thanks to their families, their parents. And their second parents – their teachers. Who studied at pedagogical universities. Our university is a center of pedagogical science, and in this sense, all threads converge here, with us, at MPGU. And to the students who are present here now, I want to express my congratulations – you have become co-creators of such a wonderful center of science and education. To become academicians, one needs to work in teams where such academicians are present. And we at MPGU have all the conditions for such scientific activities. We have laboratories in all fields of both humanities and natural sciences, where all conditions for productive work are created.”
Andrey Naumov expressed hope that the current students would, in the future, contribute to the archive of our Russian Academy of Sciences and the repository of new technologies. He noted that we are living in an amazing time, and fundamental science is increasingly demonstrating its applied aspect not in the distant future but in the very near future. In concluding his speech, he emphasized once again that MPGU has been a forge of scientific personnel in Russia for many years and that the university has created all conditions to satisfy the research interests of every student.
