The department of theoretical physics named after Edward V. Shpolsky started the new 2023-2024 academic year

At the beginning of the new academic year 2023-2024, the Department of Theoretical Physics, named after Edward V. Shpolsky at IPTIS MPSU, held its inaugural meeting. On September 4th, various topics were discussed to kickstart the year, including updating coursework and diploma project topics, planning seminars with students, engaging in publication activities, and facilitating professional development for teachers. The department also deliberated its involvement in annual projects such as the Troitsk School for advanced studies of physics teacher, evaluating the 4th Quiz of Young Physicists by the Physical sciences department of RAS, organising the 1st Science Talks (IWQO/PECS) 2023), and participating in the COOS-2023 science school.

During the department meeting, the research work of Artem Arzhanov, a fourth-year PhD student, was presented for the second time. The topic of his research work was “Relaxation dynamics of composites with semiconductor colloidal quantum dots: microscopy and optical spectroscopy with high temporal and spatial resolution.” Faculty members and invited colleagues posed questions, while Artem’s scientific supervisor provided comments and suggestions. Two reviews of his work were also discussed.

Following the hearing, it was decided to approve Artem Arzhanov as a candidate for the State Examination Committee.
