Opening of the First Samarzev Workshop (PECS/IWQO-2023) in Svetlogorsk

A unique scientific event, the “I Samartsev Workshop (FEKS/IWQO-2023)”, has commenced in Svetlogorsk! It brings together approximately 100 scientists from scientific and educational organizations in Russia, Belarus, and South Africa. The Workshop is jointly organized by the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Lebedev Physical Institute of the RAS (Branch in Troitsk), with the collaboration of Moscow Pedagogical State University, Institute of Spectroscopy RAS, and Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.

The Samartsev Workshop represents the continuation of a remarkable series of international symposiums on Photon Echo and Coherent Spectroscopy (PEKS) and the International Workshop on Quantum Optics (IWQO), which have been held in various cities throughout Russia from 1973 to 2021. This event holds special significance as it commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Uno H. Kopvillem and the 60th anniversary of the publication of the first article on photon echo.

The program of the First Samartsev Workshop includes invited presentations and lectures by prominent scientists working in the fields of coherent, nonlinear, and quantum optics. Additionally, there will be oral and poster presentations by professors, young scientists, graduate students, and students.

The organizers are confident that the commencement of the First Samartsev Workshop (PEKS/IWQO-2023) will establish a strong foundation for future grand events, which will contribute to the successful development of scientific fields directly associated with the remarkable legacy of Professor Vitaly V. Samartsev. This marks the beginning of an illustrious tradition that unites generations of scientists, enabling them to continue making astonishing scientific discoveries.
